Weekend @ PSU

I went to Penn State this weekend to the blue and white game and once again PS has fulfilled my expectations for a good time. I Absolutely love it there. Their school spirit and pride is unbelievable. Sometimes i wish i would have gone to a bigger school for that reason. Slippery Rock is a good school don't get me wrong, but there are just so many different people and things to do there. But SR is definitely more known for their PE program so I'm glad i went here.

Podcasting

I just finished up doing my podcasting for tech pete thats due Thursday . I had never done a poscast before, but it was surprisingly easy to do. It was hard to keep a straight face when i had to talk and not laugh because my partners kept laughing, but other than that it wasnt half bad. Im not sure if i would use podcasts for my classroom, but its good to know anyway just in case.

bully's in HS

I saw on the news That these high school video taped themselves beating up another classmate to the point that she was knocked unconscious. They did this because they wanted to post the video on myspace for everyone to see because apparently the girl had been talking trash about them. The video was disturbing, it really makes me think about why kids are acting that way. There has always been drama in HS but when did it start being taken to this level. And the sad part is that i have heard before of other insidenses of this happening. I wonder if myspace and the advancements in technology have anything to do with this change.

nogo to the backpacking trip

So the backpacking trip that i was suppose to go on was cancelled. The People that were suppose to reserve the vans ended up not writing it down or something so we had no way of getting to minister valley. I'll admit i was disappointed about it. I was actually looking forward to the trip other than having to sleep outside in the freezing cold of course. I plan on doing totrail anyways, but with some of my friends. Anyone know of any other good hiking trails around the area??

rad.

My friend carries b-day is coming. It was so hard for me to figure out what to get her this year! I got on walmart.com and under the photo section they had these cool ideas. One that stuck out most was a wall clock, sounds dumb but its actually really cool because the face of it is any picture you want. I picked it up today and it was better than i imagined. Its something new and different so im sure she'll like it. If anyone needs a funky gift to give check it out.

all ready to go!

Tomorrow i am going backpacking for outdoor pursuit. Im really looking forward to the trip except for the high chances of snow and rain. I dont think i'll enjoy hiking 12 miles in the rain. I do love being outdoors though. So, anyway im hoping i have everything all ready and packed. I am pretty sure i havent forgotten anything, at least im praying i didnt. Well wish me luck!

Fire!

Over the weekend some of my friends came up from my hometown. Love my best friend Terra to death, but she almost burned down my apartment! She popped one of those soft pretzels from the freezer into the microwave and she asked me how long they have to go in for and i said 70 seconds. Well dear dear Terra thought i said 7 minutes! Before we knew it smoke was pouring out of the microwave! We hurried and flung open all the windows, but the alarm went off anyway. No harm is done except our microwave kinda smells bad now when you use it, but thats temporary and the pretzel and the plate it was on needed to be trashed.

ready to go home :0)

Just finished up packing to go home for Easter. I must admit that i love being away and on my own, but i miss my family tons. I live about 3 hours from home so i dont get to go home as often as i would like to. Its so hard when i have h/w and a job, so when i do go home its so exciting. I was hoping to get out of here a day early, but in my first and only class of the day tomorrow i have a test, of course. But she is letting me come in at 8 a.m instead of 10 a.m to take it so at least i'll get on the road early. Well to everyone heading home be safe and have a happy Easter!

road trip nightmare

Well, im currently enjoying my spring break down in SC. But i just had to blog about my trip on the way down. Six of my friends including myself piled into a mini van and drove down to Myrtle Beach. Everything started out good, our map quest directions were going great until we were sent on highway I-85, which is a 6 lane! (talk about nerve racking lol) we decided that somting was up and we were right. Turns out map quest was completly wrong. We had a back up though, my GPS unit. We should have just used it from the beginning, but we were unsure if it would get us there or not dont ask me why. Anyways about two hours from the beach the GPS unit died and we forgot the car charger to it! So, then we had to get out the lap tops and hook them up to wireless and try to match them to were the GPS was sending us. Talk about a mess! It took us about 13 hours to get here but we made it!

live free or die hard

If you haven't seen the movie "Live Free or Die Hard" with Bruce Willis i totally recommend you do. I watched Friday night and it's incredible. I don't want to say to much about it because i don't want to give it away. Basically these hackers completely take over the United states through all of the computer systems, I'm talking street lights all the way up to social security numbers. Bruce Willis is the cop that is always in the wrong place at the wrong time and him along with a young hacker that he was taking into custody get stuck battling these dudes. Great movie! See it!

what the heck mexico?!

Here's some advice; dont try and book a spring break in Mexico if your not 25 and over. So, me and my posse, yes i have a posse, have been trying to book a spring break for liiiiiiiike 2 months now and everywhere we try and book they have these ridiculous age retrictions on thier guests. There are six of us going and we are all either 21 or 22 except for one of us who is only 20. Neway let me get to my point, we booked through travelocity and finally found a resort that would take us; the age restriction was 18-21 so we figured we were good to go and we booked it! Well after booking we got on the resorts webpage and the age restriction was 25! We went into a bit of a panic because we had just put a $950 trip on a credit card, then we relaxed and called the hotel to cancel. Travelocity blows dont book through them and if you do then double check everything when you place your reservations. Oh and in case your worried about whether or not we booked a trip or not, dont fret we did. :0) to Myrtle Beach its not Mexico, but it will do.

idk what made me think about this

So, i was thinking that i would really like to get one of those snowboarding helmets that have the video cameras built right into them. One of my friends from home has one and apparently its pretty bad ass. I wonder if its possible to break it though; i mean of course its possible, but rather how easy is it to break. I'll admit i've taken some wicked falls and i dont see how the camera would be able to withstand it. I would love to see some of my face plants on some film though; PRICELESS haha. Well i guess thats really all i had to say about that.

RIP dvd player

My dvd player officially kicked the bucket today. I got a good 4 years out of it though, which isnt bad considering i bought it for like thirty bucks. My boyfriend tried to fix it, but it was just to late. Many movies were shared between us and it will be sadly missed. So, on a happier note does anyone have any suggestions on my next dvd player purchase?

Last minute customers

Why is it that right when you go to close up a store for the night 10 people decide to grace you with thier presense. That happens to me allllllllll thie time where i work. I actuall expected it this week becuase its so close to v-day and being that i work at a florist its incredibly busy right now. But even when its not so close to v-day that always happens.

Video games...I just dont get the obsession

So i have got to say that i just do not get why video games are so obsessed over. I mean almost every guy ( not to single any particular gender out, but i personally dont know any girls that are into video games as much as some dudes). Anyway, take for instance my roommate he can sit down and play a video game for hours upon hours. It amazes me how much time people put into them, not to mention how expensive they are. My other roommate bought her boyfriend a game for v-day and it was $60. Thank god im not into them because i would be playing the same game over and over agian because im broke ass poor about 90 percent of my life haha. Well when it comes right down to it its not my place to tell people what to do with their time. And i must admit i love guitar hero, but keep that on the DL. ;0)

Not impressed by the Juke

So i actually saw that new cell phone the other day called the Juke; And i would have to say that i wasnt exactly impressed with it. When it first came out i was so stoked and wanted one really badly, but after seeing it not so much now. It is about the size a highlighter; I would lose that thing way to fast! When i actually look back on it i think i liked the commercial more than the phone itself.

speaking of digital cameras....

After talking in class about our digital camera project it made me recall all of the projects that i had to make when i was in high school. I took a class called broadcast journalism and a big part of the class was to create all these different kinds of movie projects . The two that i remeber the most were an editorial on a women from my hometown named Tula Hanley and a music video featuring our basketball team, who had been well on thier way to states. The basketball project was easy because it was a huge event in my town so i dont think i really ever missed any of the guys games throughout high school. I really liked it a lot though; once you get the hang of a certain program (i think we used Adobe Premiere in my class) it really gets to be a lot of fun. Im really looking forward to getting back into it agian.

first time blogger

So this is officially my one and only first blog. I suppose this is going to be a good way to exercise my writing skills a bit more than i typically do. For anyone interested in knowing a little tid bit about April Nichols heres the best i can do as of right now; I am currently spending my days in Slippery Rock, PA continuing to work on my college education in health and physical education at Slippery Rock University. I spend a lot of time studying, working, running a muck with my freinds, and leading as active of a lifestyle as i can. My hometown is Bradford, Pa, which is waaaaayyy up north. I dont get home often but i try to whenever it is possible. I'm an only child, but dont steroetype me i dont act like a typical only child. All around i'm just trying to find my place in this world, one class at a time. While doing so i live by the quote; " live the life you love, and love the life you live" and somehow i keep truckin forward.
